Vibrams, I haz them

Got a pair of Vibram Five Fingers (thanks to my lovely wife). After wearing them for a couple weeks I have to say, I love them. Not just love them, love them love them.

First, a little background. I'm not a super strong runner, at all. When I do run, it's usually on my treadmill in the basement. I typically do intervals of light jogging for 3 minutes followed by hard running (10 mph, treadmill top speed) for 30-45 seconds. I usually do 4 or 5 intervals. But even when running on the treadmill, I prefer to run barefoot.

When wearing regular running/tennis shoes it feels like there is a lot between the bottom of your foot and the ground. For good reason, the shoe is designed to protect the bottom of your foot from the impact of it hitting the ground. But I think the unintended side effect is you're harder on your joints. It's hard for me to say exactly why, but when I run in the Vibrams, my stride is more smooth and my foot feels like it's more in sync with the ground.

After wearing these "shoes" for only a few minutes it feels like you are not wearing shoes at all. That's perfect for a guy who likes to do everything barefoot.
