I have to pay respect to my Grandma Frances Meade who passed away on April 16th 2008, the same day my son was born. I was not able to attend the funeral, my heart is broken. She was a beautiful lady and she will be missed.

There isn't really a whole lot I can add. My grandma Meade was a strong lady who was kicking ass in Cribbage until the day she passed. Her cookies would bring healing to your soul. Living through the great depression, she would never throw anything away and was careful when unwrapping a present so she could save the paper. My grandma loved God and served in the church faithfully.

DAVENPORT -- Frances L. Meade, of Davenport, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at Runge Mortuary, with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Frances was born February 26, 1926, in Akron, Iowa, to Dick and Emma (Henke) Richters. She attended Akron High School and was a member of the girls basketball state championship team. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Meade on November 13, 1942, in Unionville, Mo. They moved to Davenport where they raised their nine children. Kenneth preceded her in death in 2004. Frances was a devoted member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She was a member and past president of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was involved in many activities throughout the school and church, including PTA, parish festivals, rummage sales, bazaars, and the church cleaning team. Frances enjoyed gardening, playing cards, traveling, family vacations, and spending time with her family and many close friends. Those left to honor her memory include sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Elizabeth, and Ronald and Carol, all of Blue Grass, Iowa, Mike and Mary, Richville, Minn., Larry and Bette, Davenport, and Jim and Pam, Hawarden, Iowa; daughters and sons-in-law, Tami and Richard Reger, Coal Valley, Ill., Becky and Juan Vasquez, Donna, Texas, and Sherrie, Altamonte Springs, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and Cuddles the cat. In addition to her husband, Kenneth, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy, her parents, four sisters and five brothers. May they rest in peace. Frances was always a greeter and a hugger and will be greatly missed by all. The family would like to thank Beacon of Hope Hospice, Dr. Seaba, Father Bill, and all of her special friends who sent cards, letters, and prayers, which brought her great comfort throughout her illness.

Well said Joe. Very nice tribute. She was a great lady, and hers was a long life well spent. She will be missed by her big family and her many many friends.
When she was told of Jack's birth she said "tell him I love him".
A very sad and a very happy day all in one.
